We used a number of props throughout our trailer; this is because we wanted to clearly show the difference in murder weapons. Having different murder weapons allowed us to clearly show the audience that there wasn't just one killer, there was multiple. We were hoping that by showing quick shots of the different props and weapons being used we would be able to create a more intense and quick atmosphere for our audience. By the end of the trailer this would make them want to watch the real thing and make them question.
Mask
We used the mask to represent the fact that the murderers are hidden and don't want their identity to be seen. However we only clearly showed the mask in one clip; this is where the killer is getting ready for another murder. We used the film "Scream" as our inspiration for this prop because it hides the killers identity. |
Wooden bat
We used a wooden bat as another murder weapon; this is because we believed that we wanted the killers to be teenagers therefore a bat would be something easily accessible.
We also thought the bat would be good for a close up shot; this is why we shot one of our clips from the victims perspective to add more intensity. We used "The Walking Dead" and "Suicide Squad" as our inspiration for some of our murders because two of the main villains use a baseball bat as their main weapon. |
Broken glass
We used the broken glass as another weapon; we thought this would be another easy accessible weapon for a bunch of teenagers. We also had the idea to space a glass bottle on a wall to create another effect on the audience and have more of an impact. The broken glass also allowed us to have a shot with a victim on the floor surrounded by blood and glass. |
Knife
We used a knife in our horror because it is one of the most common weapons that you see in horror movies; and they are a simple way to cause harm to someone and murder them. Adding to this we did a clip were the knife is the focus point; the shot shows a knife being held up dripping with blood which causes the audience to feel uneasy and makes them question whats happened. |
Pipe
Originally we wanted to use the pipe as an additional weapon to show the audience that there is a multiple amount of colours who have different preferences on how to kill. We also wanted to film one of the murders at a skip/ building site and a pipe would be something you would most likely find on both of those locations. |
Fake blood
The fake blood is an obvious prop for a horror as most people want to see the blood and gore; we made the fake blood out of washing up liquid and red food colouring so then it would be a bright red and runny so we could easily splatter it around the victims. We mainly used the fake blood when we filmed a murder by the field where someone got stabbed with glass as we thought this would be the best murder to emphasise the amount of blood caused. |
Tape
We decided to use while murders were occurring because it was a way of showing the audience that the victims are unable to defend themselves or scream for help. This is also a way of showing that the killer has complete control over the victim and is obviously quite a strong person; this is because not everyone would be able to hold down a person, tie them up and put tape across their face. |
